I had that classic nightmare last night. The one where all the marshals are useless, you try to start the swim but realise you don’t know where you’re going, then you discover your wearing a vest and have to take it off in the water. But you don’t pull it over your head, you put your arms through the head hole then start pulling it down (all under water). Then you get back to shore and have the dreaded feeling you’ve forgotten something… You run past your mum, dad and the rest of the family then it hits you: “I’ve left my bleedin’ bike at home“!!?
Yep, first triathlon of the season is tomorrow and here’s the results and review of last months training…

Seven months in and it’s significant that my weight has come down as my ratio of body fat to muscle has gone up…must be doing something right, eh?

A reasonable month in terms of distance (just over 164 kms) but woefully low on structured swimming. The month was cut short to accommodate two weeks in the Maldives which was nice. I did a great deal of swimming, snorkeling etc but I wouldn’t call all of it proper swim training! I did get in one proper swim session though, put my wetsuit on and everything, in 40 degree heat!? Next months goal is to swim at least once or twice per week.
I also completed my first half marathon, the Weymouth Half marathon. It was a great event and you can read my review of the Weymouth Half marathon here. It’s fair to say I’m a negative split convert, but will be revising other methods over the next few months to ensure this is the best strategy for me.
That’s it for now, but I’ll be blogging my Ringwood Triathlon race shortly so please check back soon.
